Jamison, Tesoriero, McCarthy Earn Final #AEWLAX Weekly Honors of 2016

BOSTON - The America East women's lacrosse regular season came to a close on Saturday as the conference tournament is set to begin Friday at Stony Brook's Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The Seawolves won their fourth-straight regular season title with a win over Albany. The Great Danes will be the No. 2 seed for the fourth-straight season, with UMBC earning the No. 3 seed with a win over UNH. The Wildcats earned the No. 4 seed and will make their third tournament appearance in the last four years.

Here are the final weekly award winners of the year:

Offensive Player of the Week
Carolyn Jamison, UMBC, So., Wesminster, Md.

  • Tallied five goals and one assist, helping UMBC beat UNH and clinch a spot in the America East tournament for the second-straight season.
  • Her five goals in that game puts her at 50 for the season, placing her at seventh for goals in a single season in UMBC's record book
  • UMBC needed to beat UNH by four or more goals to clinch a spot.

Defensive Player of the Week
Anna Tesoriero, Stony Brook, Fr., GK, Huntington, N.Y.

  • Made five saves and held Albany to four goals in a 13-4 win
  • Also recorded a caused turnover
  • Great Danes entered Saturday averaging 12.00 goals/game
  • 3.56 goals-against average in conference play is an America East single-season record

Rookie of the Week
Keri McCarthy, Stony Brook, Hauppauge, N.Y.

  • Controlled five draws in Stony Brook's 13-4 win over Albany
  • Totaled 36 draw controls in conference play, which is the fifth-most in AE history
