BOSTON – Elinor Purrier's outstanding season continued last week. The sophomore from New Hampshire qualified for the Olympic trials in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and posted the top time in the country in the event this season. Men's Track Performer of the Week
Taariq Jones, Albany - Sr., Kingston, N.Y.
- Won the 400-meter run at the UConn Northeast Challenge
- Ran a personal best of 46.86.
- The time is tops in America East this season and among the top 50 in the country.
Women's Track Performer of the Week
Elinor Purrier, New Hampshire - So., Montgomery, Vermont
- Ran the fastest time in the nation in the 3,000-meter steepchase so far this season (9:47:17).
- The time qualified her for Olympic trials.
Men's Field Performer of the Week
Joe Miceli, Binghamton - St., Miller Place, N.Y.
- Won pole vault at Princeton Invitational (17’ 0.75”).
- The vault was the best in America East this season and among the top 35 in the country.
Women's Field Performer of the Week
Annika Hibbard, Albany - Jr., Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.
- Won high jump at the UConn Northeast Challenge.
- Set a school record (5’ 8.75”).
- The leap was the 40th-best in country and best in the conference this year.
