VESTAL, N.Y. – Senior forward Brittany Snow netted a team-high 20 points, leading No. 3 Stony Brook (17-13, 9-8 AE) to a 60-42 win over No. 6 Hartford (11-19, 7-10 AE) in the second game of the America East Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center. The win marked the sixth time in program history that Stony Brook advanced to the America East Semifinals.

Snow, who was selected to the All-Conference Second Team on Friday night, went 9-for-12 from the field and added three rebounds and three assists. She now has tallied double-digits in 26 of the Seawolves 30 games this season. Junior guard Christa Scognamiglio added 13 points and 10 rebounds.

“I was really proud of how our team came out and played today. We played inspired defense which really opened up our offense.” Stony Brook head coach Caroline McCombs said. “We played well on both sides of the floor today.”

The Seawolves opened up a 29-14 lead at halftime.

For the Hawks, sophomore forward Janelle Harrison tied freshman forward Jalay Knowles for the team high with 12 points apiece. Harrison also had six rebounds.

The Seawolves went on a 24-7 run that spanned over the end of the third quarter and into the fourth quarter.

Hartford closed the game on a 10-2 run in the game’s final 3:27, but time ran out on a possible comeback.

"We are disappointed,” Hartford head coach Jen Rizotti said. “We came into this weekend with high hopes even though we did not have the experience that we did last year. I feel for the girls, especially our seniors."

Junior guard La’Trice Hall, who added four points, is looking ahead to her senior season at Hartford, and hopes to advance farther in next year’s tournament.

“We are confident coming back next year.” Hall said. “We have a lot of young players who gained experience this year. We got to keep working hard to improve.”

The No. 3 seed is now 18-7 in matchups against No. 6 seeds. Stony Brook now heads into the America East semifinals against No. 2 Maine at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
