BOSTON - America East teams played their final full week of non-conference games as league play begins this weekend with a pair of series. Hartford will host Albany and UMBC welcomes Stony Brook in a rematch of the 2015 title game. The Rtrievers, Seawolves and UMass Lowell each won a pair of non-conference games to highlight the week in America East baseball.
Here are the week four award winners:
Player of the Week
Kevin Lachance, UMBC, Sr., SS, Clifton, Va.
- Lachance continued his hot start to the year, hitting .778 for the week, going 7-9 from the dish.
- The senior reached base nine times, with a double and home run, finishing the week with an .818 on-base percentage.
- Scored five times while knocking in five runs.
- Had a 1.222 slugging percentage.
Pitcher of the Week
Andrew Ryan, UMass Lowell, So., RHP, Rochester, Mass.
- Pitched eight plus shutout innings in 3-0 win at Santa Clara
- Recorded eight strikeouts while allowing just four hits and issuing a pair of walks.
- Has not allowed a run in 21 1/3 innings.
- Leads conference with 3-0 record, 0.41 ERA and 21 strikeouts.
Rookie of the Week
Dylan Resk, Stony Brook, Fr., DH, Ardsley, N.Y.
- Resk hit .417 for the week with a .500 slugging percentage and three RBIs.
- He crushed a double to left centerfield that plated a pair of Seawolves in the fifth inning to cap a three-run inning that broke a 3-3 tie in Saturday's win over Villanova.
- Added the lone RBI in Stony Brook's loss at Fordham on Sunday.
