BOSTON - Binghamton, Vermont and UMBC all earned their first wins of the young lacrosse season last week, as five of the seven America East women's lacrosse teams have played at-least one game. Both Stony Brook and Albany will open their seasons this week.
Vermont grabbed a, 14-12, win over Colgate at home, while Binghamton won an overtime thriller, 6-5, over Niagara. UMBC split a pair of games with a loss at Towson and a 20-5 win over VCU.
Here are the week 2 award winners:
Offensive Player of the Week
Alison Bolt, Vermont, Jr., M, Tully, N.Y.
- Totaled five points in Vermont's 14-12 win over Colgate.
- Netted three goals and added two assists.
- Finished with a perfect shooting percentage.
Defensive Player of the Week
Erin McNulty, Binghamton, Sr., G, Holbrook, N.Y.
- Allowed just five goals on 25 shots in a 6-5 overtime win against Niagara.
- Made 11 saves and recorded one ground ball.
- Had a .688 save percentage.
Rookie of the Week
Olivia Batista, Binghamton, Fr., M, Massapequa, N.Y.
- Recorded two assists in a 6-5 overtime win against Niagara.
- Also added a ground ball and a draw control.
- First freshman to record multiple assists since Bri Arthur on April 6, 2014.
