BOSTON - Lacrosse season is back as three America East women's lacrosse teams took the field over the weekend. UNH started the year with a 14-8 win over Hofstra at home, while Binghamton pushed No. 3 Syracuse to the brink before falling, 9-6. Here are the week 1 award winners:
Offensive Player & Rookie of the Week
Catherine Sexton, New Hampshire, Fr., A, Niskayuna, N.Y.
- Recorded a team-high four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in a 14-8 season-opening win over Hofstra.
- Sexton opened the game scoring at 3:23 to ignite a 4-0 run, and Hofstra never got closer than three goals the rest of the way.
- Sexton helped ensure that by recording an assist on the team's fifth and sixth goals.
- Sexton scored her two goals on three shots.
Defensive Player of the Week
Allie Rodgers, Binghamton, Sr., D, Baldwin, N.Y.
- Registered four ground balls and four caused turnovers vs. No. 3 Syracuse
- Helped Binghamton hold the Orange to single-digit goals, something only six teams accomplished last season.

- Vermont had its game moved to Monday after extreme cold swept across the Northeast. The Catamounts fell to Bryant, 11-7.
- UNH's Krissy Schafer scored three goals to match her career highs in both goals and points.
- Laura McHoul recorded an assist to increase her UNH all-time record total to 103.
- Six Wildcats recorded multiple points in a balanced attack vs the Pride.
