Two America East women's lacrosse teams garnered preseason accolades as the national polls were released on Monday, Feb. 1.
The three-time reigning America East champion, Stony Brook, earned its highest preseason rankings in program history. The Seawolves are eighth in IWLCA Coaches' Poll and seventh in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Stony Brook went 18-2 in 2015 and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Seawolves return six of their top eight scorers from a year ago and boast the nation’s top scoring defense in each of the last three years.
Albany is ranked 20th in both the IWLCA Coaches' Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. The Great Danes concluded the 2015 slate at 14-5, with a 20/20 ranking after sealing an NCAA Tournament at-large bid.
Eight America East student-athletes were also named to Preseason All-American Teams in Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook. Here is the lis:
