College basketball season begins Friday November 11th! Be sure to check out our daily previews of all nine America East schools. Here are some key notes on Stony Brook women's basketball:
  • Picked fifth in the preseason poll, Stony Brook is coming off back-to-back 17-win seasons.
  • In her first two seasons at the helm, Stony Brook head women's basketball coach Caroline McCombs has led the Seawolves to consecutive third-place finishes in the America East, becoming the first coach in program history to lead her team to two postseason appearances with consecutive trips to the WBI.
  • The Seawolves have ranked in the top half of the conference in scoring defense in each of the last five years,
  • Kori Bayne-Walker is second in school history with 341 assists, 76 shy of the school record. She has eclipsed 100 assists in each of the last two seasons and was a second team all-conference performer as a sophomore.
  • Stony Brook's 13 non-conference opponents went a combined 223-185 (.547) in 2015-16. Syracuse (12), St. Bonaventure (34), Indiana (46) and Hofstra (75) finished the year with RPI rankings inside the top 100, while six opponents finished the year with winning records. 
  • The Seawolves open the season at Iona on Nov. 11
