BOSTON - As America East volleyball heads into the final weekend of the regular season, all four tournament spots have been clinched but seeding is still up for grabs. Albany, Binghamton, UMBC and New Hampshire will be the four teams competing for the America East championship, but all four seeds are still left to be decided. Albany and New Hampshire are tied atop the league standings and will face-off with first-place on the line on Friday. The top-seed in the America East will host the championship. Here are the weekly award winners:
Player of the Week
Zoya Trendafilova, UMBC, Sr., Outside Hitter, Sofia, Bulgaria
- Led the America East with 4.78 kills per set in a 2-0 week for the Retrievers.
- Also averaged. 2.67 digs per set and had a .288 hitting percentage.
- Posted 20 kills on a .390 hitting percentage in a win at Binghamton.
- Notched 23 kills and 15 digs in a win at Albany.
- Led UMBC to its 1st-ever road sweep of Albany and Binghamton in the team's 14th-year in the conference.
Setter of the Week
Keelin Severtson, New Hampshire, Sr., S, Delray Beach, Fla.
- Averaged 10.67 assists and 1.83 digs per set in leading UNH to a pair of straight-set wins against UMass Lowell and Hartford.
- Helped UNH lead the America East with a .282 team hitting percentage.
- Guided the Wildcats to a .347 hitting percentage vs. Hartford, the team's second-highest of the season.
Defensive Specialist of the Week
Kristin Watson, UMBC, So., DS, Bowie, Md.
- Led the America East with 6.56 digs per set in a 2-0 week.
- Tied a school record with 41 digs in a win over Albany.
- Helped Retrievers hold opponents to a .192 hitting percentage.
Rookie of the Week
Lauren Kornmann, Binghamton, Fr., OH, Kenvil, N.J.
- Ranked fourth in the league with 3.38 kills per set last week.
- Also averaged 1.00 digs and 1.00 blocks per set.
- Posted 19 kills, five digs and six blocks in a four-set win over Stony Brook.
