BOSTON – At the halfway point in the swimming and diving season, most America East teams wrapped up their November schedules with invitationals while Binghamton took on Canisius College. For most squads, they will have an extended break before resuming action in January. Here are the award winners of the week:
Swimmer of the Week
Emily Escobedo, UMBC – Sr., Breast/IM, New Rochelle, N.Y.
- Emily continued her strong run in her senior season, breaking the school record in the 100 fly with a time of 54.83 for a second place finish
- She won the 200 breast and took silver in the 100 breast with times of 2:10.94 and 1:02.20, hitting an NCAA B cut in the 200
- Escobedo completed the trifecta with a win in the 200 IM, taking gold in a time of 1:59.69, hitting an NCAA B cut
- This is Escobedo's fifth Swimmer of the Week award this season
Diver of the Week
Abby Biddulph, UMBC – Fr., Diving, Egg Harbor City, N.J.
- Abby competed in both the 1 meter and 3 meter dives this past weekend
- She finished the 1 meter with a score of 194.75 (12th) and the 3 meter with a score of 186.10 (13th)
- This is Biddulph's third Diver of the Week honor
