College basketball season begins Friday November 11th! Be sure to check out
our daily previews of all nine America East schools. Here are some key notes on
Hartford women's basketball:
  • Hartford was picked 7th in the preseason poll and will be guided by first-year head coach Kim McNeill. McNeill, the eighth coach in program history, arrives at Hartford by way of the University of Virginia, where from 2011-13, she was an assistant coach under Joanna Boyle before being elevated to Associate Head Coach in 2013.
  • Deanna Mayza was selected to the Preseason All-Conference team. The senior guard led Hartford in scoring (11.7 ppg) over the first 15 games of the season prior to suffering an injury. She would work her way back to appear in the final four games of the year after missing 11.
  • The Hawks are looking to rebound after being eliminated in the America East quarterfinals last season. It was just the second time in the last 12 years that Hartford failed to reach the semifinals.
  • Hartford returns seven of its top eight scorers from last year including Mayza (9.7), Darby Lee (8.9), Janelle Harrison (6.8), Lindsey Abed (5.1), Kelly Douglass (4.9) and La'Trice Hall (4.1).
  • The Hawks begin their season at home on Friday, Nov. 11, with a matchup against Boston College.
