The 2016 America East Volleyball Championship begins on Friday, November 18, at the University of New Hampshire's Lundholm Gymnasium. The semifinals begin at 4 p.m. with No. 2 Albany vs. No. 3 UMBC following by No. 1 New Hampshire vs. No. 4 Binghamton. Both matches will be available on AmericaEast.TV.

  • UMBC and Albany are meeting for the sixth time in the America East Championship and the fourth time in the last seven years. The Great Danes hold a 4-1 advantage.
  • UMBC is making its return to the America East tournament after missing the last two years. Prior to that, UMBC had reached  six-straight tournaments.
  • The Retrievers are 3-7 all-time in tournament play.
  • In UMBC’s last tournament appearance, the Retrievers defeated the Great Danes in the semifinals before falling to UNH in the final back in 2013.
  • The Retrievers and Great Danes split two regular season meetings.

  • UNH is hosting the tournament for the fourth-straight season and is playing in its sixth-straight tournament (7th in last 8 years).
  • The Wildcats are 15-8 all-time in tournament play with six titles. All six championships have come on their home floor as the Wildcats are 12-0 at home in tournament play.
  • The Bearcats are playing in their 11th tournament in 15 years since joining the conference.
  • Binghamton is 7-7 all-time in the tournament.
  • The Bearcats won the tournament in 2012. All three of Binghamton’s championships have come on the road.
  • The two teams split the season series.
  • The teams have met just twice in tournament play with Binghamton beating the Wildcats in the 2009 semifinals and UNH beating Binghamton in last year’s semifinals.
