Cremo, Lamb Lead Albany, Vermont to Wins, Earn 1st MBB #AEHoops Weekly Honors

BOSTON - America East men's basketball teams started the 2016-17 season by going 7-4 over the weekend, including Albany winning at Penn State. It was the Great Danes' first-ever win over Big Ten opponent and the first for any America East team since 2010. Here are the season's first weekly award winners:

Player of the Week
Joe Cremo, Albany - So., Guard, Scotia, N.Y.

  • Recorded his first career double-double in leading Albany to a win at Penn State Friday.
  • Totaled 22 points, a career-high 10 rebounds and five assists.
  • The win was Albany's first-ever over a Big Ten program and the first for an America East team since Maine beat Penn State on Dec. 21, 2010.

Rookie of the Week
Anthony Lamb, Vermont - Fr., Forward, Rochester, N.Y.

  • Nearly recorded a double-double in his first game as a collegian in leading Vermont to a season-opening win at Quinnipiac Saturday.
  • Scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
  • Shot 8-of-12 of the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line.
