College basketball season begins Friday November 11th! Be sure to check out our daily previews of all nine America East schools. Here are some key notes on Vermont men's basketball:
- Vermont was tabbed first in the preseason poll after posting its eighth-straight 20-win season and reaching the semifinals of the CBI for the second-straight year last season.
- The Catamounts return 12 players from last year’s squad including tri-captains Dre Wills (9.1 ppg), Kurt Steidl (11.2 ppg) and Trae Bell-Haynes (12.2 ppg).
- Bell-Haynes was one of five America East standouts named to the league’s preseason All-Conference team. He earned third-team all-league honors last year along with Steidl.
- John Becker enters his sixth season at Vermont. He has won 20-plus games in all five of his seasons and has compiled a 110–63 (.636) during his tenure in Burlington.
- Vermont opens its season Saturday vs. Quinnipiac and will play three games as part of the Gulf Coast Showcase.
