Three Standouts Earn Week 9 #AEFH Accolades

BOSTON - With just one week to go in the regular season, Albany wrapped up a share of the America East Field hockey East Division title over the weekend and will be the No. 1 seed from East at next week's America East Championship. Maine and New Hampshire, which went 2-0 last week, have also secured bids to the tournament. Out west, Stanford has clinched at least a share of the West Division title and will be the division's top seed for the championship. Pacific can earn a share of the division crown with a win over Cal Sunday. Here are the week nine award winners:

Offensive Player of the Week
Fran Tew, Stanford - Sr., Defender, Suffolk, England

  • Scored three times to lead Stanford to a pair of wins last week.
  • Had a pair of goals in the Cardinal's 6-1 over UC Davis Friday.
  • Tallied an insurance goal in a 2-0 win over California Sunday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Maxi Primus - Jr., Goalkeeper, Berlin, Germany

  • Didn't allow a goal while making five saves in over 120 minutes of action last week.
  • Had four saves to lead Albany to a 2-0 win over Maine Friday. It was the first time this season the Black Bears, who rank second in the conference averaging over three goals a game, had been shut out.
  • This is her third Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season (8/30, 10/4) and ninth of her career.

Rookie of the Week
Marguerite Van Wyck - So., F, Pretoria, South Africa

  • Tallied seven points in a pair of wins last week.
  • Scored twice, including the game winner, in a 3-1 win over Cal Friday.
  • Had a goal and an assist in a 6-2 win over UC Davis Sunday.
