BOSTON – The second week of America East swimming and diving was underway last weekend. There was one meet in action as New Hampshire began their season in Burlington with an America East battle against Vermont. Here are the week two award winners:
Swimmer of the Week
Liza Baykova, New Hampshire – Jr., Moscow, Russia
- Took gold with a record-setting performance in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.21, more than two seconds faster than her competitors
- Her second top-podium finish came in the 100-yard freestyle as she touched the wall with a time of 50.90
- Her time for the 100 free ranks her 28th in the nation while her time in the 200-free has her 58th nationally
- Both times set new Forbush Natatorium pool records
Diver of the Week
Allison Stefanelli, New Hampshire - Fr., Loudonville, N.Y.
- In her first ever collegiate meet, Stefanelli took first place in both the 1-meter dive and 3-meter dive in a dual meet at Vermont
- She tallied a score of 224.53 in the 1-meter dive and 249.52 in the 3-meter dive.
