Need to know

  • Three America East teams are featured in the Mid-Major Top-25 released on Jan. 12, including Albany (15), Maine (RV) and Stony Brook (RV).
  • Albany senior Shereesha Richards and Maine senior Liz Wood have been named two of 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS Award.
  • According to the latest College Basketball RPI report released on Jan. 11, the America East is 15th among Division I conferences, eight spots higher than this time a year ago.
  • Albany’s Zakiya Saunders dished out 13 assists vs. Stony Brook, the most for an America East player since Boston U’s Christine Kinneary had 14 vs. Northeastern on Nov. 19, 2007. Saunders has five 10+ assist games this season, which matches the most in a single-season for any America East player as far back as the statistics go (1999-2000).
  • Hartford had five different players score double figures in a win over UMBC on Thursday. The Hawks have won eight of the last nine games against the Retrievers and are 12-1 in West Hartford.
  • Elizabeth Belanger matched a career-high with 32 points to help UNH snap a nine-game losing streak with a win over UMass Lowell.
  • Binghamton won its third conference game, exceeding its win total from a year ago just five games into league play with a win over Vermont. The Bearcats also won back-to-back road games for the first time this season.
  • Albany senior Shereesha Richards needs 63 more rebounds to become the fourth player in America East history to record 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. She ranks 9th all-time on the career scoring list with 2,093 points.
  • The America East is the only non-Power 5 Conference with five teams in the top-80 of scoring defense (Maine-12, Albany-24, Stony Brook-53, Binghamton-79, UMBC-80).
  • The Great Danes are 64-5 in league play since 2011-12.
  • Maine has won 13-straight games at the Cross Inurance Center.
