BOSTON – Many America East indoor track & field teams competed last week. UMass Lowell’s women’s team placed first in the Jumbo Invitational while the men took second. The Albany women placed fourth at the Great Dane classic and the men took fifth. Stony Brook men and women both defeated FDU and Fordham at the Atkinson Invitational. Men's Track Performer of the Week

Taariq Jones, Albany - Sr., Kingston, N.Y.

  •  Placed third overall in the 400-meter race with a time of 48.09-seconds, ranking him 36th-best in the nation last week.
  • He led off the men’s 4x400 running a collective 3:14:91 placing them in 3rd overall.

Women's Track Performer of the Week

Jessica Donohue, Albany - Jr., Glenn Head, N.Y.

  • Placed first overall in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 17:10:87.
  • Her run was 34th-best in the nation last week.

Men's Field Performer of the Week

Matthew Campbell, Albany - Jr., Spanish Town, Jamaica

  • Placed first in the high jump clearing 6-feet 10 ¼- inches.
  • His jump was the 43rd-best in the nation last week.

Women's Field Performer of the Week

Kerstin Darsney, UMass Lowell – So., Rowley, Mass.

  • Won the high jump clearing 5-feet 9 ¼-inches, ranking her 29th-best in the nation last week.
  • Placed first in the pentathlon at the Harvard Multi Meet.

Notes:

  • Albany’s 4x400 team, which Taariq Jones is a part of, has the leading tie in the America East.
  • Stony Brook’s Kaylyn Gordon won the long jump at the Sean Atkinson Invitational ranking her 58th-best in the nation last week.
  • Kerstin Darsney scored a personal best on all 5 events earning her first place in the pentathlon at the Harvard Multi Meet.
