Need to know
- Three America East teams are featured in the Mid-Major Top-25 released on Jan. 12, including Albany (15), Maine (RV) and Stony Brook (RV).
- According to the latest College Basketball RPI report, the America East is 16th among Division I conferences, the highest for the conference since reaching #15 on Feb. 20, 2012.
- Albany senior Shereesha Richards became just the 9th player in America East women’s basketball history and the first since 2000 to score 2,000 career points.
- The America East is the only non-Power 5 Conferences with five teams in the top-90 of scoring defense (Maine-13, Albany-35, Stony Brook-78, New Hampshire-85 and UMBC-88).
- Albany won its sixth-straight conference home-opener, beating Vermont 72-43 on Saturday.
- Binghamton freshman Rebecca Carmody grabbed an offensive rebound and hit a layup as time expired to lift the Bearcats to a 51-50 win over New Hampshire. Binghamton is unbeaten (6-0) at the Events Center this season.
- Maine won its 12th-straight game at the Cross Insurance Center and is off to a 2-0 start in America East play for the first time since 2008 after beating UMBC 65-55 on Saturday.
- Hartford guard Deanna Mayza dished out 12 assists, the most for an America East player in a single game since 2007-08, in a win over UMass Lowell. Mayza added 10 points for her first career double-double.
- Stony Brook won its sixth-straight game, beating UMass Lowell 64-50 on Saturday. The Seawolves outscored the River Hawks 60-37 over the final three periods after scoring just four points in the first.
