BOSTON - America East indoor track & field programs are back in action after the holiday break. UMass Lowell women came in second at the Dartmouth Relays, while the men came in third.   

Read about the conference's third weekly award winners of the season as UMass Lowell and its Massachusetts natives swept this weeks awards.

Men's Track Performer of the Week

Tunde Ogunleye, UMass Lowell - Sr., Fitchburg, Mass.

  • Placed first overall in the 400-meter race with a time of 49.12-seconds
  • His 400-meter time was the 17th-best in the nation last week.

Women's Track Performer of the Week

Jaclyn Solimine, UMass Lowell - Jr., Haverhill, Mass.

  • Placed third in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 10-minutes, 14.05-seconds

Men's Field Performer of the Week

John Fiorello, UMass Lowell - Jr., Tewksbury, Mass.

  • Placed second in the shot put with a toss of 51-feet, 7-inches
  • His throw was the 84th-best in the nation last week.

Women's Field Performer of the Week

Kerstin Darsney, UMass Lowell – So., Rowley, Mass.

  • Won the triple jump with a distance of 39-feet 2 ½-inches, ranking her 32nd in the nation last week.
  • Placed second overall in the high jump by clearing the bar at five-feet, 6 ½-inches ranking her 43rd in the nation last week.

Notes

  • Binghamton’s Jon Alkins ranks 32nd in the nation in the 200-meter race after posting a time of 22.20 at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open.
  • UMBC’s Hassan Omar kicked off his indoor campaign by running the fifth best time in school history in the mile, clocking in at 4:10.97 at the Penn State Relays.
