BOSTON - Conference play is in full swing in America East women's basketball as all nine teams have played at-least one conference matchup. Albany, Maine and Stony Brook all started 2-0 while Hartford won its lone league game last week.

Here are the week nine award winners:

Player of the Week
Shereesha Richards, Albany, Sr., F, Rae Town, Jamaica

  • Earns her 19th career Player of the Week honor.
  • Averaged a conference-high 20.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game last week.
  • Scored 16 points and added 12 rebounds in a win at UMBC.
  • Poured in 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to beat Vermont.
  • Became the ninth player in America East women’s basketball history to score 2,000 career points.
  • Has registered three straight double-doubles.

Rookie of the Week
Davion Wingate, Stony Brook, Fr., G, Atlanta, Ga.

  • Earns her first career Rookie of the Week honor and eighth straight for the Seawolves.
  • Averaged 17.0 points. 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 52.2% from the field.
  • Scored a season-high 19 points, including 17 in the second half as Stony Brook erased a 16-point deficit to beat Binghamton. Also added four assists in the game.
  • Totaled 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting in a win at UMass Lowell.

  • Four America East teams are featured in the Mid-Major Top-25 released on Jan. 5, including Albany (15), Maine (RV), Stony Brook (RV) and UMBC (RV)
  • According to the latest College Basketball RPI report, the America East is 16th among Division I conferences, the highest for the conference since reaching No. 15 on Feb. 20, 2012.
  • Albany senior Shereesha Richards became just the 9th player in America East women’s basketball history and the first since 2000 to score 2,000 career points.
  • The America East is the only non-Power 5 Conferences with five teams in the top-90 of scoring defense (Maine-13, Albany-35, Stony Brook-78, New Hampshire-85 and UMBC-88).
  • Albany won its sixth-straight conference home-opener, beating Vermont 72-43 on Saturday.
  • Binghamton freshman Rebecca Carmody grabbed an offensive rebound and hit a layup as time expired to lift the Bearcats to a 51-50 win over New Hampshire. Binghamton is unbeaten (6-0) at the Events Center this season.
  • Maine won its 12th-straight game at the Cross Insurance Center and is off to a 2-0 start in America East play for the first time since 2008 after beating UMBC 65-55 on Saturday.
  • Hartford guard Deanna Mayza dished out 12 assists, the most for an America East player in a single game since 2007-08, in a win over UMass Lowell. Mayza added 10 points for her first career double-double.
  • Stony Brook won its sixth-straight game, beating UMass Lowell 64-50 on Saturday. The Seawolves outscored the River Hawks 60-37 over the final three periods after scoring just four points in the first.
  • Albany is one of only four teams in the country to boast the top two scorers in its respective conference joining St. John’s (Big East), UC Riverside (Big West) and James Madison (Colonial).
