BOSTON - Six of eight America East men's soccer clubs won games non-conference games last week as they continue to prepare for conference play, which begins on October 3.

Here are the week fourth weekly award winners of the season:

Co-Player of the Week
Zach Galluzzo, Binghamton - Jr., Back, Ronkonkoma, N.Y.

  • Tallied five points on two goals and an assist in a pair of Binghamton wins last week.
  • Set up the lone goal in the Bearcats' 1-0 win over Cornell on Tuesday.
  • Scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over Siena on Saturday.

Co-Player of the Week
Austin Kroll, UMass Lowell - So., Goalkeeper, Baltimore, Md.

  • Made nine saves and didn't allow a goal in a 1-0 win over Hartwick on Saturday.
  • Eight of his nine stops came in the second half.

Rookie of the Week
Serge Gamwanya, Stony Brook - Fr., Midfielder, Kinshasa, Congo

  • Tallied assists in both Stony Brook contests last week.
  • Set up Martin Giordano's score 3:07 into a 2-1 win over Marist Thursday and assisted on the lone goal in a loss to Villanova Sunday.

Notes

  • America East teams are 27-22-7 on the season, a .527 winning percentage.
  • Seven of those wins came over teams that reached the NCAA Tournament a year ago (Binghamton and UMBC over Ohio State, UMBC over Oakland, Hartford and UMass Lowell over Monmouth, UMass Lowell and New Hampshire over Hartwick).
  • Six of the conference's eight men's soccer programs won games last week.
  • UMass Lowell added to the league's win total over 2014 NCAA tournament teams, beating Hartwick, 1-0, behind a nine-save performance from Austin Kroll.
  • New Hampshire stayed unbeaten with a 1-0 win over UMass Saturday.
  • At 5-0-1, the Wildcats' .917 win percentage ranks among the best in the country.
  • Binghamton (5-2-0) won twice last week and has won five of its last six games.
  • Vermont got a pair of goals from Brian Wright to beat Marist, 4-2, on Saturday.
  • Javoni Simms scored the lone goal in Hartford's 1-0 victory over Iona Saturday.
  • Wright and Simms are tied with Albany's duo of Leo Melgar and Afonso Pinheiro for the league lead in goals with four.
  • Stony Brook split two games last week, beating Marist, 2-1 in double overtime on Thursday.
