UNH, Albany & Stony Brook Featured in #AEVB Awards

BOSTON -  America East volleyball makes the turn towards conference play as the fourth week of action came to a close. New Hampshire went 2-2 with wins over Buffalo and Navy, while both Stony Brook and UMass Lowell picked-up wins. Here are the week four award winners:

Player of the Week
Tori Forrest, New Hampshire, OH, Powder Springs, Ga.

  • Led the conference with 3.23 kills and 2.47 digs per set in a 2-2 week for the Wildcats.
  • Notched a pair of double-doubles including 15 kills and 11 digs vs. Harvard and 16 kills and 17 digs in a win over Navy.
  • Had 18 kills and a .381 hitting percentage in win over Buffalo.

Rookie of the Week
Morgan Kath, Stony Brook, Fr., Setter, Muskego, Wis.

  • Ranked second in the conference, averaging 10.5 assists per game.
  • Had 40+ assists in all three matches over the weekend.
  • Posted a double-double with 44 assists and 12 digs in a win over Columbia.
  • Also averaged 1.83 digs per set.

Setter of the Week
Keelin Severtson, New Hampshire, Jr., S, Delray Beach, Fla.

  • Led the conference in assists at 11.00 per set while also averaging 2.12 digs per set as the Wildcats went 2-2.
  • Quarterbacked UNH to a .215 hitting percentage as a team.
  • Notched 50+ assists twice, including 56 vs. Harvard and 51 vs. Navy.
  • Had a double-double with 41 assists and 14 digs vs. Syracuse.

Defensive Specialist of the Week
Nicole Otero, Albany, Fr. L, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico

  • Led the conference with 5.73 digs per set for the Great Danes.
  • Notched 26 digs vs. IUPUI, 17 vs. Marquette and 20 vs. Wichita State.

Notes

  • The River Hawks won two matches in a row under Second-Year Head Coach Resa Provanzano for the first time with Friday’s win vs. MVSU.
  • UNH went 2-2 last week wth wins over Buffalo and Navy.
  • Stony Brook topped Columbia as they went 1-2 in the Seawolves Classic.
