Frost, Rose Donegan Win Races to Earn #AEXC Weekly Awards

BOSTON - Four America East teams raced at Stony Brook in its invitational last week, a precursor to the 2015 America East Championship being held on Long Island on Oct. 31. Reigning champions Binghamton men and New Hampshire women won their respective events.

Here are the second weekly performers of the season:

Men's Performer of the Week
Collin Frost, Binghamton - Sr.,Randolph, N.J.

  • Won the Seawolf Invitational on Saturday, covering the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:01, better than 11 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
  • Led the Bearcats to a first-place team finish in a meet against conference opponents Stony Brook, UMBC and New Hampshire.

Women's Performer of the Week
Laura Rose Donegan, New Hampshire - Jr., Melbourne, Australia

  • Won the women's 5K at the Stony Brook Invitational in n 18:57.29.
  • Led UNH to a first-place finish as a team.

Notes

  • Binghamton, UMBC, New Hampshire and Stony Brook competed at the Seawolf Invitational over the weekend.
  • On the men's side, Binghamton placed five runners in the top 15 to take the race.
  • Senior Collin Frost won the 8,000-meter race, clocking a time of 26:01 in the process. Fellow senior Ethan Hausamann was third (26:18) and sophomore Eric Holt was fifth (26:25).
  • UMBC placed second and was led by Hassan Omar, who finished second behind Frost.
  • On the women's side, Laura Rose Donegan won the women's 8K in a time of 18:57.29 to lead UNH to the team title at the Wolfie Invitational.
  • UMBC's Sarah Daly was second and Stony Brook's Elizabeth Caldwell was third.
  • UMBC men are ranked seventh in the latest USTFCCCA Midwest Regional Poll and Binghamton is up to 13th in the Northeast Poll.
  • New Hampshire women are fourth in the women's USTFCCCA Northeast Poll while Stony Brook slid one spot to 13th.
