BOSTON - Hartford continues to be the hottest team in America East women's soccer, winning two more games last week to extend their win streak to four. UMass Lowell also earned its first win over the year last week, 1-0, over Wagner, while Stony Brook had a pair of victories.
Here are the week four award winners:
Player of the Week
Manuela Corcho, Stony Brook, So., M, Norwalk, Conn.
- Only player in the conference to score multiple goals last week, leading the league with two.
- Scored her first career goal in a 2-1 loss to Hofstra.
- Tallied the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson.
Rookie of the Week
Julia Carr, Hartford, Fr., F, Guilford, Conn.
- Scored one goal and had an assist to lead Hartford to a 5-0 win against Bryant on Sunday.
- Her goal, which was the game-winner, came on a penalty kick in the 27th minute.
- Carr has scored in all but two games this year for Hartford
Notes
- Hartford has ripped off four-straight wins, marking its longest win streak since 2014 when it won four, beginning with a 1-0 decision against Albany on Sept. 28.
- Each of the Hawks’ wins have been shutouts; the Hawks have not shut out four-straight opponents since 2011, when they scored clean sheet victories over six-consecutive opponents during league play.
- Hartford is off to its best start since 2011, when it opened the season by going 5-0-1
