KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After becoming the first America East program to reach the reach the NCAA College Cup last December, UMBC 'smen's soccer program is ranked No. 12 in the 2015 National Soccer College Association of America (NSCAA) Division I Preseason Poll.
The three-time defending league champions will welcome back 16 letterwinners and three starters from last year's 14-6-5 squad which won four consecutive road games, all shutouts, to advance to the Final Four.
The ranking is UMBC's highest to start a season. The Retrievers finished last season ranked fourth in the country.
University of Hartford, which reached its second-straight America East title game last year, received one vote in the poll.
The America East preseason poll will be announced August 18.
