BOSTON - The 2015 season kicked off for America East's men's soccer programs over the weekend in successful fashion. The conference's teams went 8-4-2, including three wins over teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last year and two over squads ranked in at least one national poll.

Here are the week first weekly award winners of the season:

Co-Player of the Week
Gregg Hauck, UMBC - So., Midfielder, Linthicum, Md.

  • Collected a league-high four points in a pair of games last week.
  • Tallied all four points, a career high, in a 5-0 win over Central Arkansas Sunday.
  • Scored a goal and set up two more.
  • Named to Hampton Inn/BWI Kick-Off Classic All-Tournament Team

Co-Player of the Week
Jason Orban, Stony Brook - Jr., Goalkeeper, Manorville, N.Y.

  • Recorded a shutout in his lone game of the week, a 1-0 Stony Brook win over Central Conn. State Friday.
  • Made five saves, including three highlight reel stops in the game's final five minutes.
  • The clean sheet is the third of his career.

Rookie of the Week
Martieon Watson, Stony Brook - Fr., Midfielder, Vessigny, Trinidad

  • Scored the lone goal in the Seawolves' 1-0 victory over Central Conn. State Friday.
  • Took a feed from Thibault Duval and beat the Blue Devil goalkeeper to the far post in the 63rd minute.
  • The goal, the first of Watson's career, came in his collegiate debut.

Notes

  • America East teams went an impressive 8-4-2 on opening weekend.
  • Three of those wins came over teams that reached the NCAA Tournament a year ago (Binghamton over Ohio State, UMass Lowell over Monmouth, New Hampshire over Hartwick).
  • UNH is off to a 2-0-0 start for the first time since 2008.
  • UMBC won the Hampton Inn/BWI Kick-Off Classic after tying Fairfield and beating Central Arkansas, 5-0, over the weekend.
  • Hartford tied Holy Cross, 0-0, Friday and extended its home unbeaten streak to 13 games (11-0-2).
  • UMass Lowell beat Monmouth, which was ranked 21st in the Top Drawer Soccer Poll, 1-0, Friday for its first-ever win over a ranked opponent.
  • Pascal Trappe scored in the third minute to give Binghamton a 1-0 win over Ohio State, which was ranked 27th in the College Soccer News Preseason Poll and received the second-most votes of teams just outside the NSCAA Top 25.
  • Albany (over Rhode Island), Stony Brook (over Central Conn. State) and Vermont (over Sacred Heart) also earned wins last week.
