Three America East baseball student-athletes have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-Region teams, the organization announced. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. I All-America Committee.
America East Player of the Year, Stony Brook's Jack Parenty, was named to the Northeast Region First Team after leading the Seawolves to the America East regular-season and tournament titles. The junior outfielder led the conference in batting average (.367), slugging percentage (.524), hits (77), RBIs (47), triples (7) and total bases (110) and started all 52 games in left field.
UMass Lowell shortstop Danny Mendick landed on the Northeast Region Second Team after being named an America East All-Conference first team pick. Mendick led the team in numerous offensive categories including RBI (30), doubles (16), total bases (71), slugging percentage (.455) and tied for the team lead in hits (50). One of 47 finalists nationally for the Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award, Mendick took home numerous honors in 2015 including Second-Team NEIBA All-New England.
UMBC junior Conrad Wozniak, the America East Pitcher of the Year, was named to the East Region Second Team. Wozniak earns the distinction following his stellar season with the Retrievers. He finished the year with a 1.48 ERA, good for tenth nationally at time of publication. Wozniak had a 4-1 record in 12 starts, tossing three complete games. He threw 73 innings giving up 20 runs, with just 12 of them earned. Wozniak led the team with 56 strikeouts, and did not give up a triple or home run all year.
