After earning just the third at-large bid in America East history, the Albany Great Danes (14-4) head north to Syracuse to face Penn in the NCAA First Round on Friday at 2 p.m. ET. The winner will face host Syracuse on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Great Danes are making their third NCAA appearance and first since 2011 when they won a first round contest at Dartmouth to advance to the quarterfinals. Albany is one of just three programs to advance to the quarterfinal round.
America East teams have earned five NCAA victories all-time including Stony Brook advancing to the round of 16 in each of the past two seasons with first round wins. Three of the five wins have come over the last four years with two by Stony Brook in 2013 and 2014 and one by Albany in 2011.
Albany senior Maureen Keggins, the America East Offensive Player of the Year, set the conference single-season record with 41 points during league play. She leads the country in points per game at 5.22.
