BOSTON - The bracket for the 2015 America East Softball Championship is set after Stony Brook captured its second-straight regular-season title and Albany, Binghamton and Maine locked up the other three tournament bids. The tournament will take place May 7-9 at Stony Brook. Read about the final weekly award winners and league notes here:

Player of the Week
Shayla Giosia, Stony Brook - Sr., OF, Runnamede, N.J.

  • Hit .565 (13-for-24) and drove in 14 runs in six games as Stony Brook went 5-1 last week.
  • Slugged .957 as she hit two homers, a double and a triple.
  • Scored five runs.
  • Scored 4-for-4 and drove in eight run against UMBC Saturday.

Pitcher of the Week
Cara Martin, Binghamton - Jr., P, Windsor, N.Y.

  • Went 2-0 with a 1.27 ERA last week.
  • Allowed just six hits.
  • Hurled 5 2/3 of scoreless relief while allowing just one hit in an extra inning win for Binghamton Friday, which secured a conference tournament bid for the Bearcats.

Rookie of the Week
Chelsea Evans, Stony Brook - Fr., 3B, Merced, Calif.

  • Had a .429/.636/.571 slash line as Stony Brook went 5-1 last week.
  • Went 6-for-14 and walked eight times.
  • Scored eight runs.

Notes

  • #1 Stony Brook, #2 Albany, #3 Binghamton and #4 Maine will play for the 2015 America East softball championship May 7-9 at Stony Brook.
  • The Seawolves (28-swept UMBC to claim its third America East regular-season crown in program history.
  • Stony Brook (28-15, 14-2 AE) won its  last seven conference games to close out the season and finished 3 1/2 games up on second-place Albany.
  • Albany (30-16, 11-6 AE) took all three games from Hartford over the weekend to clinch its 14th straight tournament berth.
  • Binghamton (20-18, 10-6 AE) earned the No. 3 seed by taking two of three from Maine over the weekend with both wins coming in extra innings.
  • The Bearcats are aiming for their first-ever league title after reaching the conference tournament for the third year in a row. The Bearcats, have won 20 games for the sixth-straight year after going seven seasons without doing so.
  • Maine (22-20, 10-7 AE) is in the tournament field for first time since 2012. Seeking its first America East title since 2005, the Black Bears have their most wins since the 2010 season.
  • On Thursday, Stony Brook will face Maine at 1 p.m. and Albany will take on Binghamton at 3:30 p.m. Following Thursday's doubleheader, three games will be played Friday, while the championship game (games if necessary) will take place Saturday.
  • The league champion will receive an automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Softball Championship.
