BOSTON - Two weeks remain in the America East baseball regular-season and tournament spots are still yet to be determined. Stony Brook suffered its first conference series loss and leads UMass Lowell by three games for the regular-season title with six games left. Here are the week 12 award winners:
Player of the Week
Scott Heath, Maine, Sr., 1B/P, Westbrook, Maine
- Went 13-for-27 in a six-game week to rank fifth in the conference with a .481 batting average.
- Led the league with a 1.000 slugging percentage while registering a .533 on-base percentage.
- Hit four home runs and collected eight RBI while scoring 10 runs.
- Had multiple hits in each of the six games.
- Went three-for-five with three runs scored, two home runs and five RBI in game one of a doubleheader vs. NYIT. Also threw seven innings in the game, allowing two runs on eight hits with 11 strikeouts.
- Homered in each of the final three games of the series vs. NYIT.
Pitcher of the Week
Cameron Sorgie, Albany, Sr., P, Shirley, N.Y.
- Went 1-0 with a 0.84 ERA and 15 strikeouts in two appearances.
- Earned the win vs. NYIT, allowing three runs (one earned, and three hits, while striking out four in the complete five-inning game.
- Tossed 5.2 innings out of the bullpen vs. UMass Lowell, allowing no earned runs, two hits and struck out a career-high 11.
Rookie of the Week
Justin Courtney, Maine, Fr., P, Bangor, Maine
- Threw a complete-game in a win over Lafayette.
- Allowed just one run while tying a career-high with five strikeouts.
Notes
- Hartford handed Stony Brook its first conference series loss of the season and just its second over the past two seasons.
- Maine belted nine home runs on the week in six games after coming into the week with eight home runs in their first 37 games.
- On Thursday at Lafayette, Maine tied the school record for doubles in a game with nine. The Black Bears scored a season-high 18 runs in the contest.
- Maine scored a season-high 18 runs on Thursday at Lafayette.
