BOSTON  - The road to the 2015 America East women's lacrosse championship will go through Stony Brook for the third-straight year as the Seawolves earned the No. 1 seed and at-least a share of the regular season title last week. Albany also clinched its seventh-straight tournament appearance with a win on Friday, while two spots remain up for grabs with one game remaining. Vermont grabbed an important victory with a huge offensive output against UMass Lowell and will face New Hampshire next Saturday in what has become a win-and-in situation. Here are the week 10 award winners: 

Offensive Player of the Week
Vanessa VanderZalm, Vermont, Jr., Pelham, Ontario

  • Tied for the most points in a single game in the conference last week with six in a 23-9 win over UMass Lowell.
  • Had the best single-game scoring performance for any America East player last week, scoring five times against the River Hawks while adding an assist.
  • Also added a season-high five ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Defensive Player of the Week
Meg Hopkins, Vermont, Sr., GK, Penn Yan, N.Y.

  • Stopped nine shots while allowing nine goals in a win over UMass Lowell.
  • Finished with a .500 save percentage, the best in the conference last week.
  • Grabbed her 10th win of the season.

Rookie of the Week
Alie Jimerson, Albany, Fr., A, Irving, N.Y.

  • Totaled five goals and nine assists for 14 points in a 2-1 week for the Great Danes.
  • Was second in the conference among freshmen with 4.67 points per game last week.
  • Notched three goals and four assists for the most points for any America East player in a single game last week in a win over Binghamton.
  • Added two goals and three assists as Albany played tough in a, 14-12, loss at No. 9 Syracuse.

Notes

  • Stony Brook is the first team in America East history to be the No. 1 seed in the tournament in three-straight seasons.
  • As of April 13, Stony Brook was ranked 6th in the IWLCA poll and 5th in Inside Lacrosse. Albany was 19th in the IWLCA and 19th in Inside Lacrosse.
  • Albany clinched its seventh-straight trip to the America East Championship with a win over Binghamton on Friday night.
  • UMBC, Vermont and New Hampshire are battling for the final two spots in the America East tournament. 
  • New Hampshire's Laura McHoul became the program's all-time assist leader with 102. McHoul is the first Wildcat to record three seasons with 30+ assists. Her 30 assists this season is tied for No. 5 on the program’s list of single-season superlatives
  • UMBC's three conference wins are the most for the program since 2012.
  • Albany's Dakotah Savitcheff has scored seven goals three different times this season.
  • The Seawolves' win over Northwestern was the first over a top-5 team in program history.
  • Stony Brook has held 32 of its last 35 opponents to single-digit goals, including 14 of 15 this season.
  • Albany has scored 20-plus goals four times this season.
  • Vermont head coach Jen Johnson became the program’s all-time winningest coach with her 77th career win at UVM vs. Sacred Heart.
