After reaching career milestones during the 2014-15 basketball season, Albany head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson and Hartford head coach Jennifer Rizzotti were both announced as WBCA Victory Club honorees.
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association Victory Club Award is presented annually to each WBCA-member head coach who achieves career wins of 200, 300, 400, 500 or more, in 100-victory increments, during the current season. Rizzotti and other Victory Club honorees will be formally recognized during the fifth annual WBCA Awards Show, which will be held Monday, April 6 at the NCAA Final Four in Tampa, Fla.
Rizzotti, the winningest coach in America East history, notched her 300th career victory in a, 60-58, win over Stony Brook on January 29th. During the 2014-15 season, Rizzotti also set a milestone in the America East, earning her 175th league victory against the Binghamton Bearcats on February 4. Her 176 career conference victories are the most all-time in conference history.
Abrahamson-Henderson, who became only the second coach in America East history to win four-straight conference titles, notched her 200th career victory, with 118 of those coming in just five seasons at Albany. She has helped the Great Danes register an impressive 68-12 record over the past five years along with four-straight 20-win campaigns.
