For the first time in her career, Stony Brook’s Kylie Ohlmiller is our Select Sector SPDR national Player of the Week.
The Seawolves opened last week with a disappointing loss at the hands of No. 18 Johns Hopkins, but responded with two huge wins over America East foe Vermont and No. 7 Northwestern on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Against the Blue Jays, Ohlmiller scored just one goal in the Seawolves’ 7-5 setback; but it was the freshman that led the way throughout the rest of the week for Stony Brook.
Against Vermont, a team that handed Stony Brook a tough conference defeat a season ago, Ohlmiller led all scorers with a game-high seven points (5g, 2a). The following afternoon, after Stony Brook traveled back to Long Island, Ohlmiller led the Seawolves in their most historic win in program history.
Against then-No. 5 Northwestern, Ohlmiller again registered a game-high point production. With four goals and two assists, she led Stony Brook to the program’s first-ever win over a top five team.
In addition to being our national Player of the Week, Ohlmiller is also the national Rookie of the Week. It is the third time this season she has taken home the weekly honor.
