Thompson, Rooney, Fields Earn Week 8 #AEMLAX Weekly Awards

BOSTON - Albany and Stony Brook both exploded offensively last week as the two teams combined for 67 goals in three games and posted three wins. Both teams are nationally ranked as a result with the Great Danes coming in at No. 9 in both polls while the Seawolves entered the Inside Lacrosse media poll at No. 2. Co-Player of the Week
Lyle Thompson, Albany - Sr., Attack, Onondaga Nation, N.Y.
  • Tallied 14 points in two games last week.
  • Scored a program-record nine goals and dished out three assists in Albany's 21-18 win over Harvard Wednesday.
  • The award is his third of the season.

Co-Player of the Week
Mike Rooney, Stony Brook - Sr., Midfielder, East Islip, N.Y.

  • Tallied 11 points in Stony Brook's 21-12 win at Vermont Saturday.
  • Scored three times and racked up a career-high eight assists.
  • It's the most points recorded by a Vermont player since 2006.
  • It's his first career Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Connor Fields, Albany - Fr., Attack, Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Had 10 goals and three assists in two Albany wins last week.
  • Tallied three goals, one assist and eight ground balls in Wednesday's win over Harvard.
  • Racked up a career-high seven goals and added two assists in the win over UMass Lowell Saturday.
  • This is Fields' third-straight award and fourth of the season.

  • Albany is ranked ninth in both national polls.
  • Stony Brook, winner of six of its last seven games, entered the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll at No. 20 this week and is receiving votes in the USLA poll.
  • Albany has outscored its opponents 96-30 over its last four games.
  • Albany's shutout of Vermont was its first-ever in Division I.
  • Stony Brook scored 13 goals on 18 shots en route to a 21-12 win over Vermont.
  • Hartford improved to 1-1 in conference play with a 13-12 win at Binghamton.
  • Ruston Souder made 17 saves to lead UMBC to a 17-8 win over Lafayette Friday.
  • #9 Albany plays at #2 Syracuse Thursday night on ESPN3.
