Albany, Maine Continue WBB Postseason Action Friday

The 2015 America East champion Albany Great Danes will take the floor in the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon. The Danes will battle No. 4 seed Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium at noon on ESPN2. Maine is also playing a postseason game today as the co-regular season champions travel to Villanova for the WNIT.

  • Albany is making its fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
  • Duke head coach Joanne P. McCallie was the head coach at Maine from 1992-2000 winning four America East titles and making six NCAA appearances with the Black Bears.
  • Albany head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson was an assistant under McCallie from 1992-94 at Maine.
  • The pair are the only two coaches in America East history to win four-straight America East titles.
  • An America East team has not won an NCAA game since 2010 when No. 10 Vermont upset No. 7 Wisconsin.

  • The Black Bears are 1-4 all time in the WNIT and are making back-to-back postseason appearances.

  • Stony Brook's season came to an end in the first round of the WBI, 53-46, at Siena.
  • The Seawolves finished the season 17-14 overall.
  • Christa Scognamiglio led Stony Brook with 16 points while Kori Bayne-Walker added 12 points and six rebounds.
