3 Women's #AEHoops Teams Earn Postseason Bids

For the seventh time in the last eight years, at-least three America East women's basketball programs head to the postseason as Albany, Maine and Stony Brook all earned bids tournaments. The teams discovered their fates after announcements from the three women's basketball postseason tournaments on Monday.

Albany (24-8) is making history, becoming just the second team in America East history to make four-straight NCAA apperances after capturing the America East title on Friday evning. The Great Danes will be a No. 13 seed in the Spokane Regon, the league's highest seed since 2010 when both Vermont and Hartford were No. 10 seeds. Albany will face No. 4 Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C. on Friday at noon on ESPN2. America East teams are 4-25 all-time in the NCAA tournament with the last win coming in 2010.

Maine (23-8) will head to the Postseason WNIT for the fourth time in program history, earning the league's automatic bid by being Co-Regular Season Champions and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. The Black Bears, who are 1-4 all-time in the WNIT, will travel to Villanova on Friday. America East teams are 7-17 all-time in the WNIT.

Stony Brook (17-13) makes back-to-back postseason apperances for the first time in school Division I history after accepting a bid to the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI). The Seawolves will travel to Siena for their first round game on Thursday at 7 p.m. Last season, Maine became the first team to win a game in the WBI, defeating Bucknell in the first round. This is the third appearance in the WBI for an America East program.

All together, 43 America East teams have played in the postseason all-time with 12 teams earning wins.
