BOSTON, Mass. - America East women's lacrosse teams continue to post impressive non-conference results and hold a 26-20 overall record while No. 18/16 Stony Brook remains unbeaten in the early going. Here are the week five award winners:
Offensive Player of the Week
Jessica Roach, Vermont, Sr., A, Scituate, Mass.
- Combined for 12 goals and four assists in wins over Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart.
- Tallied a career-high seven goals and added one assists vs. Quinnipiac.
- Notched eight points with five goals and three assists in a win over Sacred Heart.
- Has scored five or more goals three times this season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Leahy, Stony Brook., So., GK, Bayport, N.Y.
- Posted game-highs in a 2-0 week for the Seawolves against a pair of 2014 NCAA Tournament teams.
- Stopped nine shots to help Stony Brook down nationally-ranked Notre Dame.
- Helped the Seawolves hold Jacksonville to its lowest goal total of the season (4).
- Led the conference in goals against average (4.50) and save percentage (.609).
Rookie of the Week
Kylie Ohlmiller, Stony Brook, Fr., West Islip, N.Y.
- Talied five goals and three assists in a 2-0 week for Stony Brook.
- Had a huge game with a game-high six points (3 goals and 3 assists) to help Stony Brook down nationally-ranked Notre Dame.
- Scored twice vs. Jacksonville.
- Has multi-point efforts in each of her first five collegaite games.
Notes
- Vermont head coach Jen Johnson became the program’s all-time winningest coach with her 77th career win at UVM vs. Sacred Heart.
- Stony Brook was ranked No. 18 in the IWLCA Coaches' Poll and No. 16 in the Inside Lacrosse poll as of March 9. Albany was receiving votes in both polls.
- Albany’s Rachel Bowles scored her 100th career goal in a 19-5 win over Iona.
- Stony Brook is 5-0 for the second time in school history and first time since 2012.
- Stony Brook has held 24 of its last 26 opponents to single-digit goals.
