UNH's Worra Signs with D.C. United of MLS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – New Hampshire senior goalkeeper Travis Worra has signed a contract with D.C. United of Major League Soccer (MLS). It was announced Feb. 23  by D.C. United.

Worra completed his decorated career as a Wildcat in 2014 During his four year career, the goalkeeper started 59 of 60 games played and garnered a record of 25-22-10. His 25 wins put him third all-time in program history. His 21 career shutouts put him in a three way tie for second all time, matching Steve Baccari ('96) and Collin O'Donnell ('11).Worra made a total of 234 saves in his career, making him seventh all time.

In 2011 he was named an America East All-Conference selection and was the 2013 America East Goalkeeper of the Year. He was also a First Team All-Conference selection. In 2012, the Wildcats advanced to the America East Championship match as Worra posted shutouts in the quarterfinals (Nov. 3 at Albany), semifinals (Nov. 7 at Vermont) and in the finals (Nov. 10 at UMBC).

Worra joins UMBC's Omaur Ballo and Kay Banjo in MLS as the pair were chosen in the MLS Draft in January. Overall, America East has had 10 former stars taken in the 19 years of the league while several others have been taken in the Supplemental Draft or signed as free agents, including including Bouna Coundoul, atwo-time America East Goalkeeper of the Year for Albany who appeared in 99 career MLS games and three-time Midfielder of the Year Leo Fernandes, whose played in 20 games for Philadelphia. Last year he made 13 apperances, including seven starts, and had two goals and an assist.
