BOSTON, Mass. - America East teams are gearing up for the first weekend of conference play with Stony Brook taking on Binghamton and Hartford facing UMBC Saturday and Sunday. Here are the week four award winners:
Player of the Week
Shane Bussey, Maine, Jr., SS, Boynton Beach, Fla.
- Was second in the league with a .526 batting average in six games last week, going 10-for-19.
- Also drove in six runs and had a .737 slugging percentage.
- Had a hit in five of the six games including four multi-hit games for the Black Bears.
- Started the week going 3-for-4 with two RBI in a win over Mount St. Mary's.
- Went two-for-three with two RBI vs. Ball State.
- Scored three runs in a win over Bethune Cookman.
- Had three hits in the series vs. No. 2 Florida.
Pitcher of the Week
Conrad Wozniak, UMBC, Jr., RHP, Cypress, Texas
- Tossed seven shutout innings while getting a no-decision vs. Toledo.
- Allowed just two hits while striking out eight in the game.
Rookie of the Week
Danny Diaz, Maine, Fr., IF, Miami, Fla.
- Had back-to-back three-hit games against Mount St. Mary's and Ball State.
- Drove in three runs vs. Mount St. Mary's.
- Finished the week hitting .300 with four RBI and three runs scored in six games for the Black Bears.
Notes
- Binghamton took two of three from VMI in a three-game series.
- Stony Brook split a series with Fordham.
- Maine was swept in a three-game series against No. 2 Florida, but took two games on a six-game trip to Florida.
