AUSTIN, Texas -- Senior forward Kaylee Kilpatrick of the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team has been named to the CoSIDA Division I Women's Basketball Academic All-District ® First Team, announced Thursday.
Kilpatrick earns her first-ever selection. Additionally, she is the lone representative from the America East Conference tabbed to the NCAA Division I, District 1 team.
The Capital One Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have achieved sophomore academic eligibility. CoSIDA will announce the Women's Basketball Division I Academic All-America® Team on Thursday, Feb. 26.
The 6-foot-4 captain has been a consistent presence for UNH on both sides of the ball. Starting all 22 games this season, she averages 9.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Additionally, Kilpatrick leads the America East in blocks (34) and ranks first on the team in field goal percentage (.489). The forward is just one of five players in UNH women's basketball history to amass over 100 career blocks and ranks fourth on the all-time leaderboard with 118. She has tallied 10 career double-doubles, including a 10-point, 10-rebound effort in a 64-56 win at the University of Vermont on Jan. 14. Kilpatrick also registered a career-high 20 points and nine rebounds in a 64-58 setback against Central Connecticut on Nov. 30.
Aside from her statistics on the court, Kilpatrick boasts a 3.92 grade point average as a biomedical sciences major with an option in medical & veterinary sciences. Last season, she represented UNH on the America East All-Academic Team while being named to the league's Commissioner's Honor Roll for achieving a grade point average higher than a 3.50. Furthermore, she is a member of the Health Professional Honor Society, served as Alpha Epsilon Delta Secretary and works as a math tutor at Moharimet Elementary in Madbury, N.H.
New Hampshire returns to action Saturday, Feb. 7 (1 p.m.) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The 'Wildcats return to Durham to welcome the University of Vermont on Wednesday, Feb. 11 (7 p.m.).
