BOSTON - Six America East indoor track & field programs competed at the Jay Carisella Invitational last week. New Hampshire’s men’s team took home first place while UMass Lowell followed behind in third and Hartford in sixth. On the women’s side New Hampshire placed third, followed by UMass Lowell in fifth and Hartford in seventh.

Men's Track Performer of the Week
Ryan Chiesa, New Hampshire - Jr., Stockholm, N.J.
- Won the mile run at the Jay Carisella Invitational with a personal best time of 4:17.43.
- His time was the 24th fastest in the country last week.
Women's Track Performer of the Week
Elinor Purrier, New Hampshire - So., Montgomery, Vt.
- Won the 3,000-meter run at the Jay Carisella Invitational.
- Set a school record with her time of 9:29.29.
- Her time was the second-fastest in the nation last week.
Men's Field Performer of the Week
Michael Shanahan, New Hampshire - Jr., Dover, N.H.
- Won the weight throw with a toss of 63' 10.5" at the Jay Carisella Invitational.
- The throw was the eighth longest in the country last week.
Women's Field Performer of the Week
Celeste Pipia, UMass Lowell - So., Elmont, N.Y.
- Won her shotput event for the second week in row.
- Hurled 45' .25" at the Jay Carisella Invitational.
