BOSTON - Six of America East's nine men's basketball teams picked up wins during a week that featured highlight performances, buzzer beaters and near upsets.
Vermont's Trae Bell-Haynes earned America East Player of the Week honors while Maine's Issac Vann was named Rookie of the Week presented by Under Armour.

Player of the Week
Trae Bell-Haynes, Vermont - So., Guard, Toronto, Ontario
- Averaged a league-best 21.3 points per game in a 2-1 week for Vermont last week.
- Added 4.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds per contest.
- Matched a then career high with 21 points in a win over Quinnipiac Wednesday.
- Established a new career high with 28 points to go with five rebounds and four assists in a win over Niagara Saturday.
- Wrapped up his week with 15 points, five rebounds and five assists in a loss to Buffalo Sunday.
Rookie of the Week presented by Under Armour
Issac Vann, Maine - Fr., Forward, Bridgeport, Conn.
- Averaged a double-double of 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in a pair of games for the Black Bears last week.
- Shot 64.7 percent (11-of-17) from the field overall and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) on three-point attempts.
- Scored 11 points and added nine rebounds at LIU Brooklyn Thursday.
- Established new career highs and recorded his first double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds at Wagner Saturday.
Notes
- Albany, Hartford, UMBC, UMass Lowell, New Hampshire and Vermont all posted victories last week.
- Vermont beat a pair of MAAC teams, Quinnipiac and Niagara, last week behind the play of America East Player of the Week Trae Bell-Haynes. who averaged 24.5 points, four rebounds and four assists in the two wins.
- America East teams are 3-0 against MAAC schools so far this season.
- It was a week for last-second heroics as both Hartford and UMass Lowell won on late baskets.
- Justin Graham hit a three-pointer with 2.0 seconds left to lift Hartford to a 67-66 win at St. Peter’s Thursday.
- Issac White converted a three-point play with 1.3 seconds left to send UMass Lowell past Sacred Heart, 87-84, on Wednesday.
- Albany raised its fifth America East Championship banner to the SEFCU Arena rafters before beating Colgate, 88-67, Thursday. Ray Sanders scored a career-high 24 points and added six rebounds and five steals.
- Cody Joyce scored an America East season-high 30 points on 11-of-14 shooting to lead UMBC to a win at Northern Colorado Saturday.
- Stony Brook took a pair of quality programs to the wire on the road. The Seawolves forced overtime with #17 Vanderbilt in Nashville on Thursday before falling, 79-72 then dropped a 67-66 decision at Western Kentucky Saturday.
- Jameel Warney became just the 44th America East player all-time to surpass the 1,500 point mark last week.
- Warney is also just 41 rebounds shy of 1,000 for his career.
- Warney was named one of the top 100 players in college basketball by NBC Sports and to the watch list for the Karl Malone Award, given to the top power forward in the nation.
- Stony Brook’s Carson Puriefoy was named to the watch list for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the top point guard in the country.
- The top four teams in the preseason coaches poll - Stony Brook, Albany, Vermont and New Hampshire - combined for 84 wins last year and the four teams return a combined 17 starters.
- Twelve of the 15 All-Conference selections from last season are back.
