The 2015 America East Volleyball Championship final is set for Saturday, Nov. 21, at 5 p.m. as No. 1 New Hampshire takes on No. 2 Albany. The match will be available live on AmericaEast.TV.

Tournament Notes

  • The No. 1 seed has now advanced to the final has advanced to the final 21 times in 25 years. In that period, the No. 1 seed has won 15 titles.
  • This is the 10th time since the tournament went to its current four-team format that the No. 2 seed has advanced to the final and 14th time overall. The four-team format began in 1997.
  • The No. 2 seed has won six titles, with the last coming in 2012.
  • The top-two seeds have met in the final seven times since 1997 with the No. 1 seed going 6-1 in those matches.
  • The home team has won 15 titles with only six road teams winning since the tournament moved to the top-seed hosting in 1993.

The Matchup

  • The team’s split their regular-season meetings with each team winning on the road. It is the second-straight season the teams have won on each other’s hom court.
  • New Hampshire holds a 3-2 edge on Albany in the tournament. It is the second time they will meet in the final.

No. 1 New Hampshire

  • UNH is 14-8 in championship play and 11-0 on their home floor. All five of the Wildcats’ titles have come at Lundholm Gym. Overall, it is New Hampshire’s 9th appearance in the final posting a 5-3 record.
  • New Hampshire advanced to the final with a four-set win over Binghamton. The Wildcats also needed four sets to get out of the semifinals last year against Stony Brook.
  • The Wildcats are playing in their fifth-straight championship and sixth in the last seven years.  

No. 2 Albany

  • Albany is playing in their America East record 14th-straight tournament and own a 14-6 record with six titles.
  • The Great Danes have reached the final in 10 of the last 12 years and 9 of the last 10, missing only last season since 2006.
  • Albany is 6-4 all-time in the championship. The Great Danes have played just two title games on the road, beating Stony Brook in 2007 and falling to UNH last season.
