BOSTON - The 2015 America East volleyball regular season has come to a close and the bracket is set as four teams will head to the University of New Hampshire for the championship beginning on Friday, Nov. 20. The Wildcats earned the top seed after a pair of wins and are joined by No. 2 Albany, No. 3 Stony Brook and No. 4 Binghamton. Here are the final weekly award winners of the year:
Player of the Week
Demi Muses. New Hampshire, Jr., MB, Orangeville, Calif.
- Averaged 2.71 kills/set and 2/57 digs/set in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats.
- Posted nine kills, 14 digs and four blocks in a four-set win against Stony Brook.
- Notched 10 kills, four digs and two blocks on a .600 hitting percentage in a win against UMBC.
Setter of the Week
Keelin Severtson, New Hampshire, Jr., S, Delray Beach, Fla.
- Ranked second in the conference, averaging 10.29 assists per set in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats.
- Led UNH to a .253 hitting percentage in wins against Stony Brook and UMBC.
- Posted 41 assists and 11 digs in a win against the Seawolves.
- Had 31 assists to go with five kills and five digs in a win against UMBC.
Rookie of the Week
Maddie Schneider, UMBC, Fr., OH, Olathe, Kan.
- Led the conference, averaging 4.50 kills/set last week to go with a .377 hitting percentage.
- Notched 15 kills on a .542 hitting percentage to go with three digs in a win over Hartford.
- Collected 12 kills and three digs in a loss to UNH.
Defensive Specialist of the Week
Nicole Otero, Albany, Fr., L, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico
- Led the conference, averaging 6.67 digs/set for Albany.
- Helped Albany hold UMass Lowell to a .102 hitting percentage.
- Posted 20 digs vs. the River Hawks.
Notes
- UNH will host the America East Championship for the third-straight year. The Wildcats become the only team other than Albany to host the tournament in three-straight seasons. Albany hosted the tournament three-straight years from 2004-06 and five-straight years from 2008-12.
- Binghamton qualified for the tournament for the second-straight year and the third time in four seasons.
- Stony Brook is playing in the tournament for the third-straight season.
- Albany is making its 14th-straight appearance in the America East tournament. The Great Danes have advanced to the final in 8 of the last 9 years and 9 of the last 11.
