Three Teams Featured in #AEVB Week 6 Awards

BOSTON -  New Hampshire continued its roll in America East play, extending its winning streak to 14-straight over conference opponents with two wins this week that also led to the team taking home a pair of weekly honors. UMBC and Stony Brook also went unbeaten this week as both squads topped UMass Lowell. Albany and Binghamton both split a pair of matches with losses to UNH and wins over Hartford. Here are the week six award winners:

Player of the Week
Demi Muses, New Hampshire, Jr., MB, Orangevale, Calif.

  • Only player in the league to rank in the top-seven of both kills per set and digs per set last week, recording double-doubles in both of UNH's victories.
  • Averaged 4.00 kills/set (tied for 3rd) and 3.83 digs/set (7th) while also hitting .383 (7th).
  • Notched 12 kills and 13 digs on a .625 hitting percentage in a sweep of Albany.
  • Posted 12 kills and 10 digs in a win over Binghamton.

Setter of the Week
Nicole Vogel, Sr., Setter, Costa Mesa,Calif.

  • In her first full match as primary setter this season, she notched 33 assists and 16 digs in a win over UMass Lowell.
  • Finished second in the conference in assists/set at 11.00 and also finished second in digs/set at 5.33.

Rookie of the Week
Makenzie Morgen, UMBC, Fr., OH, Appleton, Wis.

  • Had a team-best 17 kills in a win over UMass Lowell, also finishing with seven digs and a .471 hitting percentage.
  • Finished first in the conference at 4.25 kills/set last week and ranked third in hitting percentage.

Defensive Specialist of the Week
Madison Lightfoot, New Hampshire, Sr., DS, Clarkston, Mich.

  • Led the conference with 5.50 digs per set in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats.
  • Had 17 digs vs. Albany and 16 vs. Binghamton.

Notes

  • New Hampshire has won 12-straight regular-season matches vs. America East teams and 14-straight overall including last year's conference tournament.
  • Albany hit a season-best .500 in a win over Hartford on Sunday.
  • UMBC is 5-0 against UMass Lowell all-time and the Retrievers have won 15 of the 17 total sets played.
  • UMBC's Krystal Williams averaged two blocks per set in the win vs. UMass Lowell.
