BOSTON – Five former America East all-conference honorees, including three first teamers, highlight the 2015-16 Preseason All-Conference Team, presented by Under Armour, the conference office announced Thursday. The five-player team was voted on by the nine men’s basketball coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
The team includes two-time America East Player of the Year in Stony Brook's Jameel Warney and two other 2014-15 first-team All-Conference standouts, Albany's Evan Singletary and Vermont's Ethan O'Day. Albany's Peter Hooley, a two-time America East Championship Most Outstanding Player, and New Hampshire's Tanner Leissner, the league's reigning Rookie of the Year, round out the selections.
Peter Hooley, Sr., Guard - Albany
- Hooley, an All-Conference Second Team selection each of the last two seasons, averaged 13.7 points and was Albany's second-leading scoring despite missing nine games.
- He became just the fifth player to earn multiple Reggie Lewis Most Outstanding Player trophies at the America East Championship last season.
- Hit a game-winning three-pointer with 1.6 seconds left to lift Albany to its third-straight America East title.
Evan Singletary, Sr., Guard - Albany
- Earned first-team All-Conference honors in his first season at Albany last season.
- Ranked sixth in the conference in scoring (13.0 ppg).
- Shot 40.1 percent from three-point land last year, second best in the conference, and sank 61 treys, third most in the league.
Tanner Leissner, So., Forward - New Hampshire
- Is UNH's first preseason All-Conference selection since 2005.
- Last season, became just the third Wildcat to be named Rookie of the Year and first since Pat Manor in 1990.
- Ranked seventh in the league in scoring (12.8 ppg) and fourth in rebounding in (7.5 rpg).
Jameel Warney, Sr., Forward - Stony Brook
- Became just the sixth standout to be named America East Player of the Year in consecutive seasons last year.
- The two-time All-American is the league's reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
- Led the conference in scoring (16.4 ppg), rebounding (11.4 rpg) and blocked shots (2.5 bpg) a year ago.
Ethan O'Day, Sr., Forward - Vermont
- Was a first-team All-Conference selection in 2014-15.
- Led the conference in FG percentage (.579) and was eighth in scoring (12.4 ppg).
- Earned All-Defensive accolades for the second-straight season last year.
