BOSTON - Battling an elite field, UMass Lowell's Robert Allen won the men's 8K at the New England Cross Country Championships Saturday, finisher first among 252 runners. Allen earned Division I National Athlete of the Week Honors from the USTFCCCA as a result.

Men's Performer of the Week
Robert Allen, UMass Lowell, Sr., Cranston, R.I.
- Won the men's 8K race at the New England Cross Country Championships Saturday, completing the course in 24:23.62.
- Was named UTFCCCA Division I Men's National Athlete of the Week.
- Led UMass Lowell to an eighth-place team finish out of 38 squads.
Women's Performer of the Week
Jaclyn Solimine, UMass Lowell - Jr., Haverhill, Mass.
- Was the top America East finisher at the women's 5K race at the New England Cross Country Championship Saturday.
- Placed ninth overall, finishing the course in 18:00.30.
