BOSTON - The 2015-16 Swimming & Diving season has began and three America East squads were in action over the weekend with Binghamton, UMBC and Vermont hitting the pool. 

Here are the first weekly award winners of the season

Swimmer Performer of the Week

Emily Escobedo, UMBC - Jr., New Rochelle, N.Y.

  • Won three individual events in a win over Rider Saturday.
  • Took the 100 breast (1:03.54), 200 breast (2:14.45) and 200 IM (2:06.75).
  • Swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay, as the relay finished first with a time of 1:47.14.

Women's Performer of the Week
Coco Darelius, UMBC - Sr., Rye, N.Y.

  • Swept both diving disciplines on Saturday for the second meet in a row.
  • Won the 1 meter dive with a score of 245.48 and the 3 meter dive with a score of 252.90.

Notes

  • UMBC beat Rider, 155-116, Saturday.
  • Emily Escobedo won won three individual events and added a relay victory to lead the way.
  • Christa Weaver led Vermont to a 229-67 win over Binghamton in a tri-meet with Army, by winning the 200-free.
