CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Four out of the five schools were in action this past week. Binghamton had two dual meets in consecutive days against Colgate and St. Bonaventure. Maine had their senior day at home against Bowdoin, New Hampshire swam against Yale in New Haven, Connecticut, and Vermont took on Northeastern. Below are the week 10 #AESD award winners:
Swimmer of the Week
Caitlin Kelly, Binghamton, Senior, Warwick, New York
- Over the course of the January 16th and 17th, Caitlin Kelly won six events against her respective opponents of Colgate and St. Bonaventure. Both days she was victorious in the 50 and 100 freestyle, along with being a member of the winning 200 medley team.
- Against Colgate on the 16th, Kelly won the 50 and 100 freestyle with times of 23.76 and 52.37. The 200 medley team that consisted of Kelly, Corrine Zotter, Selina Ng, and Claudia Coccaro were victorious with a mark of 1:46.71
- The next day against St. Bonaventure, Kelly repeated on her success filled weekend. The senior took the 50 (23.84) and 100 freestyle (52.97) once again, and she anchored the 200 medley (1:50.35).
- Both of Kelly’s 50 freestyle times rank top 5 among conference ranks this year, and her 100 times both sit in the top 10.
- Binghamton won both meets against Colgate and St. Bonaventure. The Bearcats topped the Raiders 163-137, and bested the Bonnies 121-116.
Diver of the Week
Imani Williams, Binghamton, Senior, Rochester, New York
- Imani Williams won three events over Friday and Saturday against Colgate and St. Bonaventure.
- Against the Raiders, Williams came out victorious in the three-meter event with a score of 251.55.
- The senior repeated her three-meter winning performance against St. Bonaventure with a score of 253.10. She also bested the Bonnies in the one-meter registering a 257.18.
- Williams’s winning scores were the highest registered this week by America East divers.
Swimming & Diving Notes
- The Binghamton Bearcats won two consecutive dual meets on back-to-back days against Colgate and St. Bonaventure.
- Against the Raiders, the Bearcats had Corinne Zotter (100 and 200 breast), Caitlin Kelly (50 and 100 freestyle), and Selina Ng (100 and 200 butterfly) all win multiple events. Binghamton also took the 200 medley relay with the team of Claudia Coccaro, Zotter, Kelly and Ng.
- Against the Bonnies, senior Caitlin Kelly, who won two events, led Binghamton. Kelly took home the 50 (23.84) and 100 (52.97) freestyle.
- Senior diver Imani Williams won three out of the four diving events over the two day stretch, sweeping the one and three-meter against St. Bonaventure and taking the three-meter against Colgate.
- Maine took on Bowdoin in a non-scored meet this past Saturday. The Black Bears won the 200 medley relay with the team of Tessa Lindley, Naja Harvey, Taylor Sharp, and Katerina Mosquera-Cardi. The 200 freestyle relay also fell in Maine’s favor.
- Individual winners include Chloe Adams who won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.86. Naja Harvey won the 200 yard freestyle (1:57.14), Antonia Ulici took the 100 butterfly (1:00.62), and Taylor Sharp won the 100 backstroke (1:00.62) and 200 backstroke (2:14.80)
- New Hampshire travelled to take on Yale in New Haven, Connecticut. The Wildcats fell to the Bulldogs 152-85.
- There were three individual winners for New Hampshire: Senior Katie Mann won the 400 IM, hitting the end wall at 4:23.70; sophomore Bettina Caspersen won the 100 breaststroke at 1:06.10, and freshmen Liza Baykova led the field in the 200 freestyle with 1:51.67.
- Vermont fell at Northeastern 175-117. Jess Gorham won the 100 backstroke (1:01.77) and Alexy Novelli took first place in the 200 IM (2:18.18). Rookie distance specialist Kelly Lennon won the 1000 freestyle event with a mark of 10:37.68. At the end of the day, Vermont did take first place in the 200 freestyle relay.
- On January 24th Maine takes on Bryant down in Rhode Island, UMBC will swim against East Carolina, New Hampshire will play host to Rutgers, and the Catamounts will hose URI in Burlington. Binghamton returns to action on the 31st when they will travel to Poughkeepsie, New York to take on Marist.
